What to Expect

We aim to provide a detailed process that follows best practice for hearing aid fittings.

Here's what you can expect during your visit:

  • Quality measures
Prior to your hearing aid fitting, your hearing aids are “checked-in” making sure they meet ANSI standards and that directional microphones have been placed correctly.

  • Physical fit check
We ensure the hearing aids fit securely and comfortably in your ears.

  • Programming the devices
We will program the hearing aids based on your hearing test results (audiogram).

  • Verification with real-ear measurements (REM) We will place a small microphone in your ear canal while the hearing aid is on. We will measure how sound is reaching your eardrum and adjust hearing aids to accurately meet target gain.

  • Hands-on learning
We’ll show you how to put your hearing aids in, take them out, clean them, and keep them charged. You’ll get time to practice with us so you feel confident before you leave.

  • Counseling
We’ll talk about what’s normal as your ears and brain get used to hearing again and how things will improve with regular use.

  • Care and maintenance
You’ll learn how to change wax filters and domes, clean your devices, and - if you’d like - set up phone apps or Bluetooth features for easy streaming and calls.

  • Follow up plan
We’ll schedule a follow-up visit in a few weeks to make any needed adjustments and answer any questions as you settle in with your new hearing aids.
